Parveen Kaswan, divisional forest officer of Jaldapara Wildlife Division, has been awarded the Eco Warrior Award for his bold conservation work. Selected from over 80 nominees nationwide, Parveen Kaswan stood out for his leadership in tackling poaching and reviving tiger habitats.

In Jaldapara, he spearheaded operations that tracked, arrested, and secured convictions against multiple poaching groups, including a notorious rhino gang. These actions delivered a strong deterrent message and strengthened protection in one of India’s richest wildlife landscapes.

His earlier work at Buxa Tiger Reserve left a lasting mark: supervising the relocation of two villages from the core area, despite resistance. Under his tenure, Buxa recorded its first tiger sighting since being declared a Tiger Reserve, sparking hope for revival.

Parveen Kaswan, an aerospace engineering graduate with advanced degrees from IISc and JNU, combines academic strength with field passion. His award highlights that real tiger conservation depends on dedicated officers who act decisively on the ground, making conservation practices a reality.
