Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary in Thailand has once again proven its importance after trail cameras captured rare footage of two Indochinese tigers. The sighting, made just before midnight on July 23, showed one tiger resting while another explored the entrance of the Khao Nang Ram Wildlife Research Station. With fewer than 300 tigers left in Thailand, such clear footage (shared via our Instagram page) is rare and significant.

Tigers, often called an umbrella species, are vital to maintaining ecological balance. Their decline through habitat loss, conflict, and trafficking has devastated ecosystems. Over the last 120 years, global tiger populations have fallen by 95%. Yet the success of camera monitoring offers hope, allowing researchers to study tigers without disturbance and even detect poachers.

Footage like this not only strengthens conservation science but also draws investment into sanctuaries and rehabilitation projects. Technology, when linked with strong conservation practices, is showing that tiger protection can work—and that Huai Kha Khaeng remains one of Southeast Asia’s last strongholds.
